Socially conscious and upcoming rapper, Bronze Goddess has stressed the need for a more positive message coming from leading female black artist
We are in an era where hip-hop has come of age and there is a lot of commercial music ruling the airwaves. This has led to the explosion of a lot music that people can only connect to on the surface; music that is entertaining but doesn’t make us to think too deep. People often wonder if the era of socially-conscious music is over. For rap music, it is important that people get a message and not just the entertainment in the song.
In an industry with successful female artist, most of them sparks endless headlines about their ‘irresponsibility’ to their younger female fans and with their penchant for ‘baring all’, they become the face of ‘over-sexualisation’ in the 21st century.
The socially-conscious female rapper who believes in the necessity for ‘black’ female artists in the industry promoting a positive message to the community. According to Bronze Goddess, “we should question what is currently acceptable of female rappers like Nikki Minaj, Cardi B, etc, and it is important to highlight the importance of a positive role-model and female influence in the industry.”
Bronze Goddess is currently promoting a campaign to make black female rappers more responsive, and more responsible towards pertinent issues in the society. She believes music is a powerful tool in passing across a positive message to the society.
